Based on the demo, it's pretty bad, but £1.99 for a modern popcorn FPS with an interesting gimmick is probably a good price.

I guess I will just link to it.
Update those bookmarks!
I am no longer small time!
SavyGamer is now free of the .blogspot shackles, as I have managed to secure a .co.uk domain for SavyGamer. All old links should still redirect correctly, so don't worry too much, but you might want to switch to the new address in your bookmarks, since it will be a little faster.
You can now contact me at LewieP@savygamer.co.uk if you even want to email me with requests, or indeed just to say hi.
Big thanks to Grim... over at Be Excellent to Each Other forums for helping me set it up <3
The RSS feed is unaffected by this, although you might get a load of old posts come up as unread from when the changeover occurred, but new posts will be unnaffected.
Thanks!

I am going to Omega Sektor in Birmingham, and you are all invited!
Me and a few other British folk who are going to be going to PAX this August (including my Mum!) thought it might be a cool idea to all meet up before we go. We decided that a good venue for said meet up would be Omega Sektor in Birmingham, Europe's largest LAN and Gaming Centre. Then we thought, "why not invite a whole bunch of people, the more the merrier!".
All the readers of SavyGamer are officially invited to the 'Pseudo-pre-PAX Birmingham meetup 2k8'.
The vague itinerary so far is:
1. Meet at Omega Sektor around 11:00 a.m. have a mooch around, see what's what and where it is.
2. Play various games for around an hour or so.
3. Have lunch somewhere - probably not in Omega Sektor, but depending on prices.
4. Play for 4/5 further hours.
5. Find a pub.
6. Drink alcohol until it's time to catch our train home.
We only officially started planning this a couple of days ago, but already there's about 6 confirmed attendees, and if we get a big group of us together, it might even be worth trying to get some bulk discount, and split into teams for some big games.
If anyone in the Birmingham area, or anyone who fancies a trip to a cool LAN centre to play a bunch of games, then let em know either by email or a comments here, and I'll keep you posted as the plan develops.
APZonerunner (resident Brummie) has given a great (albeit slightly outdated now) write up of Omega Sektor here and here if you want to read more about it.
It would be great to meet any/all of you guys face to face, and I'm sure it'll be a wicked day.
Update: It's probably useful if I tell you the date isn't it. It's on Saturday the 26th of July.
Updated RSS feed
If I have done this right, I should have updated to a new RSS feed. The new feed can be found here, and it is also on the right sidebar. This feed should have slightly faster performance, but the main reason I have switched is that it will give me a better idea of how many people read SavyGamer just by RSS, which beforehand I had no idea about.
I guess it's market research to some degree, but I hope no one minds. If anyone has any trouble with the new feed, or if anyone would like to not be counted, send me an email or comment here and I'll see if I can keep both feeds going, one completely anonymous, and one which gives me some pretty basic information (literally just numbers of subscribers and clicks, that sort of thing).
Cheers!
Update:
Or possibly I completely misunderstood how this works. Don't change anything yet, gimme a minute to check I have done this right.
Update2:
Yeah, ignore me, I have updated the old address to forward to the new feed, you don't need to change anything at all. If any of you would prefer to stay completely anonymous, I recommend checking out ANObrowse, which includes and anonymous RSS reader.
Let me know if any of you experience any problems with the changeover.
Thanks!

It really is amazing to see proper games getting released on the PS2 this late in it's lifetime. Sure, this has been out in Japan for quite some time, but from what I gather it has required pretty extensive localisation.
I never did play the first one, although I meant to. Should I track it down?

The Homebrew Channel has launched!
The Wii homebrew killer app we have all been waiting for has finally launched for public use, The Homebrew Channel Beta 7.
From the team:
"The Homebrew Channel is a channel for launching Wii homebrew applications without the need to run the Twilight Hack first. It will list apps stored and organised on an SD card in a nice little GUI, which you can very easily customise with descriptions and shiny little .png icons all by yourself if you want. You can also launch homebrew apps via TCP (with a correctly configured PC) or USB Gecko. Both of those built in options make it extremely convenient for testing out new code, as well as a general purpose homebrew launcher."
It can install as a .elf via the Twilight Hack, or if you can boot games from a disc, you can burn it as an .iso
Here's a video of it in action:
Head here to download it.
Thanks guys! Fantastic work.

Penny Arcade Adventures - Episode One: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode One, PC/Mac/Linux - £10.16 download
This is how a digital download service should be implemented. I love steam, but it is not without it's flaws.
This is completely DRM free. You can redownload your games indefinitely, purchasing one license gives you access to the PC, Mac, and Linux versions should you so wish, and most importantly, they are not price gouging based on region whatsoever.
From Kristin at Hothead games:
"What I do know is that Ep. 1 will be $19.95 US everywhere (except Canada), and that in the same spirit that we aim to be platform agnostic, I can imagine that we wouldn't want to penalize you because of where you live."
Current exchange rate pegs that at £10.16 plus any credit card charges (or paypal fees)
A demo for all formats is also available.
Note - I am actually in an exam right now, but I have scheduled this post to align with the release date/time. If it's not actually out right this second, it will be soon.
Spam
I seem to be on the receiving end of a lot of unpleasant comments spam. I had hoped to keep my comments sections completely open and anonymous, should individuals so chose, for as long as possible, but it looks like that is no longer the case.
I think the best alternative that blogger will allow me is to have it so that anyone with a google or OpenID account can post comments, but if someone wished to remain anonymous, it will have to go through moderation. This means that if, for any reason (that is none of my business) you want to remain anonymous, or can't be arsed to get a google account or whatever, then you can still post comments, there will just be a delay between when you send it and when it gets published.

Geometry Wars: Galaxies, DS - £9.99 delivered
As I said on the Wii post, I've got this, got it for pretty cheap around launch, and can't recommend it enough.
It comes with a version of 'Retro Evolved', the XBLA/PC version of Geometry wars, but the meat of the game if the fantastic Galaxies section, which features a whole host of levels which all mix up the rules, and some RPG light elements.
It's a must own at a tenner.

Bought so hard.
I have Retro Evolved on the PC, and the DS version too, but I've always wanted to check out the Wii version. It has classic controller support for if you want dual stick controls, but I think I'll go for the Wiimote + nunchuck control scheme first.
