Last month an early version of Gecko Region free homebrew app was released for the Wii, and and updated version has just been released.
This recent build has improved compatibility, so Smash Brothers Brawl now works, has support for progressive scan, and online play for games should work too.

Nuke has said that in the final release of version 1.4, he plans to have it as an installed channel.

I'm very interested in this (homebrew rocks, hacker ethic and all that) - but I worry about what the future connectivity and updates by Nintendo might do - especially if things install themselves as channels...
