Sins of a Solar Empire, PC - Free

Update2: Seems that Impulse are deactivating any serials gotten through this, I guess we are all out of luck. Explanation here. Shalom

Update: Looks like they have ran out of serials for Sins of a Solar Empire now. Speedball 2 is still available. Everyone who got it, I hope you enjoy your game, everyone who missed out, commiserations. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for any similar offers in the future.

It appears that CD-Action are giving away free downloads of Sins of a Solar Empire. They are giving out serial numbers which you then put into Impulse.

Head here, click "założyć TUTAJ". Tick the box then hit "Rejestruj". Then enter a username in "użytkownika", password (twice) in "Hasło" and and email in "Adres Email". If you prefer to not get any spam, use a disposable email address.

They will then send you an email for you to activate your forum account. Click on the link in the email, then log in and got to this link. They will send you a serial number for the game, which you enter into Impulse. You need to download Impulse, and enter the serial number into the client. You will need to register for an Impulse account if you do not have one already.

The serial should be in this format:
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

In Impulse, go to the top left menu icon, then select "Register a product", then hit "Add Registration", and paste the serial number in, and the game will be added to your account.

I can confirm this works, and have done it myself.

Update: Seems like Speedball 2 is available too. That's for Steam.

Hi mate, really appreciate your bargain hunting, this being the best i think :P i've done as you've said, does the code appear after you've activated the forum account? just curious as to how long it took you, i've found a decent polish to english translator tho to at least know wtf they're saying. :)

Yeah, you activate your forum account, then got to the first link again whilst logged in, and it will email you the code pretty much instantly.

I'll clear up the wording a bit now, I was in a hurry to post it, not sure how long this offer will be available for.

Excellent, cheers mate, email enroute, thanks for your quick response :D

Thanks again, Lewie!

Installing now, thanks Lewie.

Also, on the page where it says they've emailed the key, if you click on "Numery seryjne" you will come to a page of other games and clicking on those will get you codes for the following (Not tried them yet though):

Champions Online
Empire Earth
Ground Control 2
MX vs ATV Unleashed
Nexus The Jupiter Incident
Parabellum
Speedball 2
Tribes Vengence

darth_careful said...

What did the Polish say, anyway? Hopefully we've not all signed up to endless spam until the day we die.... :)

LewieP said...

Unless I am mistake, Jaffo, only Speedball 2 is actually any use (can be used on Steam). The rest are useless, unless perhaps you have access to a copy of a retail disc.

darth_careful said...

@Jaffo, is this legit, then? I can't see anyone giving out free Champions keys at the moment.

Alexander Norris said...

Sadly, this isn't working for me - I get an error in Impulse when hitting the Add Registration button ("Invalid parameters: (ref:1) (ref: -1)"). :/

LewieP said...

Sorry to hear that Ansob.

You are sure you are entering the correct serial, it should be in the format:
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

BTM said...

@darth_careful: tho there is no TOS on the serial numbbers "givaway" there is a TOS for quizes. Aside from all the legal talk, you agree to have your data processed for the needs of marketing by both CD Action and all its partners. They can even sell that data.

Having said all that - I dont think they will send you any spam, as all you have to do to get the code is to register on the forums.

Alexander Norris said...

Lewie - Impulse recognises the serial key as a Sins key, so yes, I guess I must have the correct one. :(

LewieP said...

Maybe try again with a different email address?

Alexander Norris said...

Never mind; I think I've nailed what the problem is - namely, my Impulse client isn't logging in. Anyone know where the login dialogue is?

thanks for sharing info.

http://www.cdaction.pl/seriale/
links with other games serials from same page.
i taked sins and nexus.

Alexander Norris said...

I'm making a right fool of myself, but here we go: the login dialogue is rather unhelpfully hidden under the Stardock icon in the top left corner of Impulse (fdsjfsdhdhfuy about sums up my feelings about that), and the registration works. \o/

So in summary: before looking like an idiot on SavyGamer, check that Impulse is logging in properly.

I tried the Champions Online key, but it didn't seem to work. I'd guess that it was a beta key.

The only two serials that worked for me were SoaSE and Speedball 2, I tried them all in both Impulse and Steam.

Where did you register your copy of Nexus?

Anonymous said...

Got the SoaSE key, but I'm on a mac at the mo, so I can't try it till later.

Thank you for this great info.
Really liked the game, but the money is little tight to buy it, but ill the entrenchment.

thx.

"Nie mamy numerów seryjnych do Sins_of_a_Solar_Empire"

You don't need to read Polish to know that means they have no keys left for Sins.

Got one for Speedball2, though, and that worked fine with Steam.

Thanks

I don't seem to be getting a confirmation email either...

Oh well, if anyone has a spare Sins/SpeedBall key, I'd be greatly appreciative if you would sent it along to

BenjaminTyrer2007@gmail.com

standardman said...

Weird, code works fine but they keep sending me the same email over and over - 7 times as of now.

Code for SOASE worked fine for me initially in impulse. Then the game status in Impulse changed to "invalid" and it wont launch so I guess they're screwing over people with the keys from this offer.
Enjoy it while it lasts!

Got the SoaSE code earlier, but only tried to activate it now. And although it did recognise it as a key for that particular game, it came up with the following error message after trying to validate it: "Only serial numbers provided by Stardock will be accepted." So I guess they are slightly dodgy, like anon above me also wrote.

You are all thieves. Don't do it anymore.http://www.cdaction.pl/news-8611/komunikat-klucze-do-gry-sins-of-a-solar-empire-update.html Look at it if you don't understand, use google translate. Because of you, the LEGAL owners of newest CD-Action can't play the multiplayer mode of this game. I'm shocked because I thought that I will play multi, and because of you I won't do it. Sorry for my english, i'm 14

Received the code for solar empire, registered fine on impulse. I tried downloading the game a couple hours later and now imulse is telling me that it's an invalid key.

Speedball 2 worked for me, thanks!

On the serial page Google tells me it says 'Editorial CD-Action apologizes to readers, but because of editing error, the ability to download numerków to play Sins of a Solar Empire via a web page is blocked.'

http://www.cdaction.pl/news-8611/komunikat-klucze-do-gry-sins-of-a-solar-empire-update.html

Google translate does a pretty good job of that post, and it looks like CD Action weren't aware that the keys would work with Impulse, they thought they would only be useful to people who had the free cover mounted copy from their magazine (presumably that's what the other keys available are for too).

When Kalypso Media Group noticed people registering it on Impulse, they invalidated all the keys since it wasn't restricted to Poland anymore, apparently a requirement of the agreement with CD Action. CD Action are going to look for a method of providing multiplayer keys to their readers, but only if they can find a way that they'll only be available to people in Poland, and presumably not on Impulse either.

So I guess we're out of luck. Even if you entered your key into Impulse before it was invalidated, Impulse now apparently shows it as invalid and won't let you (re)download the game. If you haven't entered your serial yet, it won't accept it anymore.

P.S. Apparently you're "a jew" for providing English instructions on how to register on their forums, LewieP.

*faceplam* To screw up once and accidentally give away your Speedball 2 keys to non-readers is just about understandable naivety but to screw up a second time just four months later and accidentaly give away not only more copies of Speedball 2 but Sins of a Solar Empire as well makes me seriously doubt the competance of some of the people at CD-Action.

Hi is there any way for me to sell sins of a solar empire: entrenchment back to impulse, I brought the expansion after getting the main games cd key but since its now invalid the expansions useless how do I get my money back?
